TITLE:                                      BUDGET OFFICER

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                   1.         Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting or Business Administration preferred.

2.         Three (3)  years of successful experience in a budgeting department, governmental budgeting preferred; with a demonstrated knowledge of data processing techniques and the ability to perform administrative work in the areas of budget administration and supervision.

3.         In-depth knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and related fiscal management techniques.

4.         Ability to appraise, develop, revise, and install procedures to be maintained by subordinates.

5.         Be able to understand and communicate the mission and goals of the District.

 

SUPERVISES:                           As assigned on current Organizational Chart

 

POSITION GOALS:                   1.         To provide financial accounting  for all  business areas of school system.

2.         To develop procedures and practices that will enhance the efficiency of the Finance Department.

3.         To prepare goals and objectives to lead toward responsible practices and procedures in financial  management.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.         Works closely with the payroll officer, finance officer and insurance and risk manager to ensure the financial and business goals of the District are met.

2.         Develops and prepares District’s annual budget.

3.         Prepares all routine or special budget and finance reports such as monthly financial reports, annual financial reports, school budget reports, etc.

4.         Recommends and supervises subordinate employees and assures that all work is accomplished in an efficient and accurate manner.

5.         Establishes audit routines and ensures audits are performed in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices, law, and State Board procedures.

6.         Develops and monitors budget reporting systems and prepares monthly reports for the Supervisor of Budget and Finance.

7.         Assists department heads and cost center managers in developing specific annual budgets.

8.         Keeps accounts of revenues and expenditures of the budget on prescribed forms.

9.         Performs other duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:      Twelve Months.  Salary and Paygrade as established by the School Board in Current Salary Schedule 2.

 

EVALUATION:              Evaluated annually in accordance with School Board’s policy and the current Organizational Chart.
