TITLE:                         RESEARCH SPECIALIST FOR BEACON LEARNING CENTER

 

QUALIFICATIONS:               1.         Bachelor degree or higher

2.         Experience in Web-based research

3.         Experience in professional writing

4.         Demonstrated expertise in graphics collection, storage and manipulation

5.         Experience in the application of copyright law

 

REPORTS TO:                        As assigned on current organizational chart

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.         Communicate with district teachers and staff to identify content research needed for curriculum development.

2.         Research and identify content-specific Web sites to support curriculum needs.

3          Obtain approval for use of copyrighted material and maintain documentation on all such material.

4.         Write learning modules for selected topics to be delivered via the Web or though face-to-face interactions.

5.         Facilitate training of staff on selected topics.

6.         Create or collect media in the form of graphics, photographs, video clips and sound bites to support curriculum needs.

7.         Ensure that the identified media is content-appropriate and in adequate quantity as determined by district teachers and staff.

8.         Research and identify copyright-free graphics, photographs, video clips sound bites or other media for use in creating and developing

            Sunshine State Standards Lesson Plans and student Web lessons.

9.         Maintain a database identifying content and media collected, their storage location and their copyright status.

10.       Provide technical assistance to district staff.

11.       Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:            Twelve months.  Salary Schedule 6

 

EVALUATION:          Performance evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.

 

This position is a grant positon and ends at the conclusion of funding.
