Title:                 Senior Systems Administrator

 

Qualifications:    1. Extensive knowledge of enterprise level operating system administration.

                        2. Experience with enterprise operations and security.

                        3. Ability to support programming staff in a database environment.

                        4. Manage and execute comprehensive disaster recovery operation.

 

Supervises:       Data Center operations staff, imaging operations, and duties as assigned by Director of Information Services

                       

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

1. Implement, support and maintain the enterprise platforms including the implementation of system software such as security, output management systems, job schedulers, tape management systems, disk storage systems, and high availability.


2. Administer and troubleshoot capacity and performance on all platforms and system software.


3. Provide platform and system level troubleshooting and technical support to programming staff and end users.


4. Provide accountability for all hardware configurations, installations, and modifications.


5. Implement and maintain appropriate backup and recovery processes for platforms and system software.


6. Analyze CPU and disk storage utilization on a daily basis.


7. Monitor and ensure system journal receivers are automatically managed by the system.


8. Display database relationships and evaluate integrity of physical and logical files.


9. Evaluate new operating system releases and conduct impact analysis. Evaluate and install operating system upgrades; cumulative, group and individual PTF packages.


10. Monitor IBM website for new group and individual PTF's on a weekly basis. Will evaluate, download, and apply PTF's as appropriate. Will order and install cumulative PTF's on a quarterly basis.


11. Research, plan and propose new hardware and software solutions, including business justification and associated costs.


12. Provide project management and leadership on related projects.


13. Conduct and maintain inventory of hardware and software environment.


14. Communicate status of all projects, problem/resolutions and activities to management and all appropriate departments.


15. Track all customer reported trouble tickets through Helpdesk and provide scheduled 24 x 7 on-call support.

The salary range for this position is $47,199 (5 yrs.) - $59,473 (19 yrs.) depending on the number of years of documented experience a candidate provides.

 

Experience with Websphere, Net.data, and other Web environments is a plus. IBM Certified AS400 System Administrator certification is a plus.
