TITLE: RESOURCE

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master’s
degree with certification in at least one exceptionality.
2. Experience teaching
handicapped students.
3. Ability to
communicate with principals, teachers, parents and
students.
4. Ability to interpret
the programs to community agencies and civic
groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Help principals and teachers to
understand the Exceptional Student Programs.
2. Provide for school-level staffing
of students into appropriate programs including the arranging
for, presiding at,
and keeping records of the meetings.
3. Assist teachers in the development
of individual educational plans.
4. Assist in conferring with parents,
teachers, schools, psychologists and agencies regarding
students, including home
visitation when necessary, keeping open lines of communication with
all involved
personnel.
5. Keep
up-to-date records on all students in the Exceptional Student classes for which
responsibility is given.
6.
Assist in program evaluation.
7. Coordinate the acquisition and
distribution of specialized materials and help teachers to evaluate
and select teaching materials.
8. Instruct and assist in Exceptional
Student classes as needed to help the teacher organize and plan
for individual differences.
9.. Demonstrate techniques, new methods and
teaching materials suited to the need of each
exceptionality.
10. Assist in planning for inservice training as needed for Exceptional Student
personnel
to bring about improved teaching techniques.
11. Provide leadership for development of a
sequential curriculum for each exceptionality.
12. Keep abreast of significant developments
in the area of Exceptional Student Programs and adapts
them for improvement of local programs.
13.
Perform other applicable duties as assigned by School
Support Services.
